Applications of Systematic Sampling

        Applications of Systematic Sampling:
·          1. In Gallup Poll: Systematic sampling is a common sampling design in many opinion surveys. The Gallup poll is a popular example. In the United States, the Gallup poll begins its sampling process by listing election-districts and then systematically selecting the districts for a follow-up study of households.
·
           2.   In Quality Control: The systematic sampling is extensively used in manufacturing industries for statistical quality control of their products. Here a sample is obtained by taking an item from current production stream at regular intervals.
·
          3. In Auditing: In auditing accounts, the most natural way to sample a list of accounts to check compliance with accounting procedures or to verify deposited amount, is to choose accounts systematically for verification.
·
             4. In Market Research: Systematic sampling has its wide applications in market research. Every 20th departing customer at a checkout counter may be asked his or her opinion on the test, color or texture of a food item.
·
       5.  In Crop Estimation: In crop yield estimation, systematic sampling has been extensively used. In estimating the proportion of diseased trees, foresters may systematically sample field plots.
·
       6. In Health Studies: In recent years, UNICEF and WHO have been extensively used systematic sampling method worldwide in child nutrition, iodine deficiency disorders, and arsenicosis surveys to assess the prevalence of these diseases.
